Revision 1.1: Added the September 9, 2026 plan to split Consensys into MetaMask and a new Consensys, while keeping company assets separate from personal wealth. (2026-09-30)

Lubin studied electrical engineering and computer science at Princeton, then worked in software, robotics, finance, and trading. This career is evidence of technical and conventional financial capital before Ethereum; it does not by itself disclose the amount invested in the project. Ethereum’s official history lists him among the founders. Ethereum history Consensys biography

Lubin helped organize and fund early Ethereum work and later created Consensys to build infrastructure and applications around the network. His economic exposure may include early ETH, founder equity, compensation, and investments. Consensys corporate assets, customer assets, managed investments, and Ethereum ecosystem value must remain separate from his personal balance sheet.

On September 9, 2026, Consensys Software Inc. announced a plan to become two independently operated companies, with completion expected by the end of 2026. The existing company will rebrand as MetaMask and keep the wallet and other consumer products, with Lubin as chairman and chief executive officer. The protocols group and institutional infrastructure business, including Linea, will form a new company that keeps the Consensys name, with Mike Kriak as chief executive officer, David Cunningham as president, and Lubin as executive chairman. The release states roles and the business split. It does not disclose Lubin’s ownership in either company, and the companies’ assets, customer assets, and protocol value still cannot be counted as his personal net worth. Consensys separation announcement

The founder and company-formation record is strong. Exact early ETH allocation, disposals, dilution, liabilities, and present Consensys ownership are not completely public, so precise wealth claims remain unconfirmed.
